This page shows what the GearBlocks hooks should look like when inserted into strut channel. The width of the bearing and axle should be 35 to 35.4mm. The inside dimension of typical strut made from 12GA steel is 36mm.
In some cases the the hook body may be tight or not insert due to the close dimensions.
If you think there might be something wrong with your hook take a look for trouble shooting steps.
GB116 Standard and Large Sliding Hooks
The GB116 family of hooks are made with a plastic body and aluminum pegs.

The hook body should insert easily and have a slight rotation.

The bearing should be flush with the end of the axle.

Looking from the end there should be no space between the bearing and the body.

Strut Channel Thickness
Some types of deep strut are made from thicker steel. These heavy duty struts may not accept GearBlocks hooks. GearBlocks hooks were made to work with 12GA or 14GA struts commonly found at big box hardware stores. Some strut found at industrial supply houses may be heavy duty. In this case the strut should be exchanged for a lighter duty gauge steel.
Strut Channel Inside Width
Not all 1-5/8 x 1-5/8 strut channel is made equal. There can be some variation in construction which may cause the hooks to stick, bind or may be difficult to insert. It is actually quite rare, but happens. In some cases the strut opening can be widened using a pair of large crescent wrenches to bend out the strut. Most strut channel steel is fairly soft and easily bends. Sometimes it’s only a small fraction of a millimeter that is needed to make a perfectly sliding strut.
