Brian Moran founded GearBlocks in his garage in 2020 when he bought his first 3D printer. Utilizing his mechanical engineering background, he started designing parts to support his passion for cycling and bike packing. Brian developed several products and started to sell them on Etsy, and things began to take off. The sliding hooks for bike storage using Unistrut channels is his best-selling product and will soon be manufactured in large quantities for the mass market.

Brian formed GearBlocks LLC in 2023 and started the shop.gear-blocks.com with his father, Gary. Together, Brian and Gary have been steadily improving the product and website, which has been a satisfying and rewarding journey. Family continues to be a huge part of the business as Brian’s daughter, Sophia, takes on more of the daily tasks, such as making products, packing, and logging sales information. His son, Nico, who has recently begun his college studies in Business Administration, helps with marketing and media. Brian’s wife, Stephanie, who is writing a novel, plays a key role in copyediting content and making sure products get to the post office on time!
Brian and Gary form a long tradition of cycling and touring, which provides the inspiration and release from daily obligations. Here are pictures of Brian on the 2020 Stagecoach 400 on his Salsa El Mariachi and Gary geared up for his tour to LA on his classic steel Legnano.
